All EAGLE Boats are available with electric propulsion. All models are specifically designed for electric boating. The combination of the specific model and the best matching electric drive results in optimal sailing characteristics.
The sailing time depends on several factors: the battery pack, the sailing speed, the total weight of the boat, number of passengers, etc. On average, you can sail electrically for 4-6 hours with the standard ready-to-sail battery packs of an EAGLE Boat.
Electric boating is still almost always slow sailing. Think of an average hull speed of 10-12 km per hour for pure electric models. Our hybrid models like the Hybruut 28 can reach up to 80 km/h when using the combustion engine.
The battery charges with a normal plug and can be charged with 230V (16amp). No three-phase power is required for this, making charging convenient at any standard outlet.
The batteries are built into the sloep or tender. A battery pack is quite heavy, so you leave it on board. You can consider taking the entire tender or sloep out of the water in winter. That is common practice, but not strictly necessary.
Charging the battery takes 4-8 hours, depending on the charger. Our advice is to charge the battery after sailing (overnight) so it's ready for your next trip.
Yes, you can charge in between at a charging point. To give you an idea: half an hour of charging gives about 10-20% extra capacity, perfect for extending your day on the water.
Hybrid propulsion combines electric motors with a conventional combustion engine. You can cruise silently on electric power at low speeds, then switch to the combustion engine when you need more range or higher speeds.
The Eagle Hybruut 28 is our flagship hybrid model, offering both silent electric cruising at up to 12 km/h and powerful performance up to 80 km/h with the hybrid system.
Hybrid propulsion offers the best of both worlds: silent, emission-free cruising in protected areas and marinas, combined with extended range and higher speeds for longer journeys. You're never limited by battery capacity alone.
